High water, Nov. 18—7.10 a.m., 7.35 p.m. The s.s. Airedale, A. Kennedy, commander, arrived in harbour this morning at 9 o'clock. Cleared Otago heads at 5 p.m. on the 16th, thus making the run in the short space of 16 hours. Had a strong south-west wind with high easterly sea. The Beautiful Star left the anchorage at Port Chalmers a short time before the Airedale, but put back in consequence of the heavy break on the bar. We are obliged to Mr Pringle, purser, for files. The fine ketch Emerald, Captain Whitby, arrived in Kaiapoi, ori Saturday ; left Tory Channel on Wednesday 9th at 10 a.m. ; at 10 p.m. was off Kaikoura Peninsula ; was becalmed until Friday with heavy fog ; 12 noon, breeze sprung up, and arrived as above. She brings a cargo of timber consigned to Belcher and Co.
