MS. PUNCH.
V TO THE EDITOR OP THE STAR. Sni^-I should imagine that the descendnts of Jack Sprat, who, it may be rememered by the students of our early ballad terature, '< could eat no fat," must have anished from the land ; or else that his rogeny must have wonderfully increased, nd that they all take after their mother, rho, according to the bard, " could eat no >an." I have been led into this speculative eflection by a knowledge of the fact that ipwards of three thousand people went to cc the cattle show —to feast their eyes on >anting porkers, asthmatic sheep, and apporteetic oxen. As we are informed that there f still "room for improvement," I must presume that more extensive bullockß, and more extravagantly exaggerated sheep than we have yet seen, are threatened by the increase of Cattle Fairs, and I look forward to the possibility of the. extinction of muttonchops, except as huge joints. Your obedient servant,
