Bankruptcy. — Shaw Crosland, of Christchurch, hotel-keeper, lias filed a declaration that he is unable to meet his engagements with his creditors. Entertainment. — The Times Minstrels will perform at the Lunatic Asylum this evening. We hear that it is tlieir intention to give a performance at the Town Hall on Saturday next. New Court-house. — The Provincial Government invites tenders for the erection of a new Resident Magistrate's Court, Lyttelton. Tenders are to be sent in at or before noon on Wednesday, the 1 1th December. Halswell Flax. — Bales of flax are arriving in large numbers from the Halswell flax works. As many as 1 50 hare been already received at the Railway station for the Light Brigade. The bales are uncom-] monly well got up, and the flax appears to j be in superior condition. Aqua i ics. — A pair-oared race, for three miles, between the C. R. Cs Nameless and A. R. C.'s Ariel, will take place on the Avon, on Saturday week, Nov. 7 th. This is a return match between the boats, which it will be remembered contended together last season at Kaiapoi, when the Ariel was victorious.
