High water, Oct. 22 — 9.19 a.m. ; 9.43 p.m. The brig .Lalla Rookh banled in to the Railway Wharf this morning to discharge her inward cargo. The P.X.Z. and A.R.M. Co.'s s.s, Otago arrived from Melbourne via Bluff Harboar and Dunedin at 7 o'clock last night, bringing 267 packages cargo, 8 saloon, and 2 steerage passengers for this port, and a large cargct aud 46 passengers for Northern ports. The Otago left Sandridge Railway Pier at A. p.m. on the 9th inst., and passed Port Phillip Heads at 7.20 p.m.; Swan Island was passed at G p.m. next day. Light fair winds and very fine weather, with a southerly swell, were experienced until nearing the Solander. For two days before reaching the Bluff the barometer was gradually falling-. The Solander was pissed at 11 a.m. on the 14th with an increasing westerly gale, and Bluff wharf reached at 5.30 same evening. Landed 630 rams in splendid condition, having only lo3t one during the passage; 40 tons of cargo and a large number of passengers, including Lenton and Smith's Japanese Troupe. The Otago was det ined at the Bluff 36 hours, in consequence of a heavy westerly gale, accompanied by frightful squalls ; the barometer at one time being as low as 28 - 25. She, however sailed at 4 p.m., on the 16th and had most tempestuous weather and terrifiic squalls on the passage. The Otago arrived at Port Chalmers at 1 1 a.m., on the 17th; left again at 7.30 p.m, on the 19th, and arrived as above, having to steam against a fresh northerly breeze.
