High water, Oct. 20 — 7.40 a.m. ; B.OC p.m. The barque Mystery, from London, arrived at Port Chalmers on Oct. 15. Left Li?erpool on July 3, and crossed the meridian of Greenwich ou Sept. 3. She has brought a full cargo and one passenger. The P.N.Z. and A.R.M. Co.'s steamer Airedale, A. Kennedy, Commander, arrived in harbour on Saturday afternoon at 1.30, having sailed from Port Chalmers at 4.45 p.m. on Friday ; experienced very variable winds and fine weather. On the night of the ICth it blew a gale from the N.W. to S.W., with furious squalls, accompanied by a fall of snow and hail. The barque Colliugwood and two coal hulks broke adrift from their moorings at Port Chalmers, and fouled the barque Kecord, but did her n» damage. The barque Eleanor had put back. We are obliged to Mr Pringle for files. The Airedale sailed for Wellington on .-aturday at 7 p.m. Tub s.s. Wainui, Capt. Bain, arrived in harbour this morning, from Dunedin, via intermediate ports ; left Port Chalmers at 9..10 a.m. on Friday, and encountered a very severe gale from the W.N.W., when off Waikouwaiti ; the close reefed foresail was split by the wind ; arrived at Oamaru at 3 p.m. ; left again at 5 p.m., and arrived at Timaru at 1.30 ou Saturday morning, having experienced light northerly winds during the remainder of the passage ; discharged cargo, landed passengers, and left again at 4.30 p.m. ; arrived at Akaroa at 7 on Sunday morning ; left at 10 a.m., but owing to strong N.W. winds, came to anchor in Le Bon Bay ; left again at 3 this morning, the wind blowing heavily from S.W. with thick heavy weather, liail, and snow, and arrived as above.
