MAIL NOTICES.
Mails per Airedale for Northern ports of New Zealand, Brisbane, and Sydney, will close at Christchurch at 3.30 p.m., and Lyttelton at 4.30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17. Mails, per Wellington, for Otago and Southland, will close at Christchurch at 1.45 p.m., and Lyttelton at 2.45 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 17. Telegraph communication being interrupted between Christchurch and Dunediu, the sailing time of the Otago cannot be ascertained ; supplementary mails, will however, be made up at a later hour, if practicable.
