The s.s. Beautiful Star arrived in harbour on Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock ; left Otago Heads at 5 p.m. on Tuesday ; experienced fine weather, with fresh N.E. winds all the passage ; off Akaloa saw a large whale close to the vessel. We arc obliged to Mr Houghton for files. The Storm Bird arrived in harbour this morning at 4 o'clock ; left Port Chalmers at 7 p.m. on Tuesday ; arrived at Timaru at 8.30 a.m., on Wednesday ; left again at 10.50 a.ru., and arrived as above. She sailed for Wellington this afternoon. High water, Sept. 9—10.19 a.m. ; 10.47 p.m.
