New York, Aug. 11. Both Houses have passed a Bill to protect the naturalised subjects abroad. Congress has proposed to grant a large subsidy to American steamers carrying mails across the Atlantic. Mr Reverdy Johnson's appointment is regarded as a guarantee of peace with England. Many believe that if the Republicans are defeated they will not give up the government to the Democrats. Troubles are expected in Louisiana, Kentucky, Missouri, and South Caroina. There have already been disturbances. The New York Journal of Commerce states that the wheat crop of California will yield more per acre than during any previous time since the country was occupied by the United States.
