Correspondence.
\TO THE EDITOB OF THE STAB. k,— l beg. you will allow me, through yonr columns, to make public a fact, in order that it may prevent the like occurring again. I had the misfortuae to loose my iafant, 3 months old, and attended the funeral at the Kaiapoi Cemetery. I was much pained to see about 1 foot of water in the grave, which had evidently been dug unnecessarily deep ; the next thing to attract my attention was some pieces of flax tied together to lower the coffin, instead of a proper rope having been secured ; j when the coffin was being lowered the flax broke, and the coffin went over and over to I the bottom, and stood on end, head downwards, with a fearful splash in the water, and i immediately the service was over, on the | instant the "amen" was said, the sexton who did the work in the above manner asked me for 15s fee. I think that such things ought not to pass unnoticed. Your obedient servant, THOMA.S PBABCE, Junr.
