Woodend Popular Entertainments. — Last evening a concert, to conclude the series of entertainments which have been carried on through the winter with marked success, was given by Mr Morton's Rangiora Singing Classes, to a very appreciative audience. The first part of the programme comprised sacred music, and could not have been better rendered, though the Church of England schoolroom, iv which the concert was held, was rather too small for such a powerful party of singers. Die second part of the programme consisted of instrumental music, solos, and choruses, the glee "Ye Shepherd's tell me," and Mr Merton's solo, " /he White Squall," being rapturously encored. The National Anthem, by the company, concluded the concert. The Rev. Mr Stack -.roposed a. hearty vote of thanks to Mr Merton, which was enthusiastically carried. Mr Merton expressed the pleasure his classes would have | on all future occasions in assisting at anytliiug of the kind. lhe proceeds will be devoted to a fund to form a nucleus for another series next year. — ii.il*«iih*i-— tt-.-*-- ■ ■■ii|**f|ir*'nV|-n-f-**nrTTg-jfMg-fMMMM-^^
