In the debate on Mr Fox's " No Confidence" motion, Messrs Campbe'l and Jollie spoke on the side of the Government; Messrs Borlase, Travers, and Heaphy on that of the Opposition. Friday, Sept. 11. 7 p.m. Messrs Kerr and Bunny have spoken on the part of the Government ; and Messrs Collins and Rolleston for the Opposition. It is reported that, the Government have ofiered compensation to several provinces with respect to the new financearrangement*. Nelson, £150,000 ; Otago, £35,000; Westland, £15,000 Other provinces are also to have large amounts, but as these sums vary day by day, the reports must be received cautiously.
