The Ship Light Brigade. — The following is the Commissioners' report as published in the Provincial Gazette of September 5: — The Commissioners have to report that, on visiting this ship, they found all the compartments in a satisfactory condition as to order and cleanliness. All classes of passengers agreed in expressing their gratitude to the captain, who, after the death of the surgeon-superin-I tendent, which occurred on the 20th June, shortly after the vessel leaving port, was most assiduous in his attention to the sick, as well as to the general well-being of the passengers, in which he was ably and kindly assisted by Mrs Evans at all hours and in all emergencies. XThe Commissioners regret that the Agent in England should have engaged Mr Schoolbraid as superintendent-surgeon, although the captain had made a written remonstrauce, as the state of that gentleman's health rendered him unfit for duty when the ship was only out a few days. They regret to have to report that on the voyage three single females were confined. The Commissioners cannot but iufer that a want of caution in the selection of immigrants is attributable to the agent. No similar occurrence has taken place in any previous sb.TT57j The Commissioners have much pleasure in slating that they consider the gratuities well deserved, and recommend that Captain Evans receive, instead of his own amount, the larger sum that would have been due to the Surgeon-superintendent, as an honorarium in recognition of the exemplary manner in which he has discharged the arduous and double duty in the embarrassing position in which he was left by the death of Dr Shoolbraid. Wm. Donald, John T. Rouse, F. D. Gibson, David M. Mackay.
