Three thousand parcels new season teas sold at a price withheld ; supposed to be afc a slight decline on current rates. Hops are in demand. De l.oubaix candles are inquired for at three farthings. . Two hundred packages of tobacco sold at auction afc Is 3_*d for hf-lbs ; Is 7f d for twist, and Is lid for bars. Fencing wiro, Hylands', afc auction, Nos. 4, 5, G, brought £12, £12 15s, and £14. Fine salt is reduced to £6 10s; MarteU's brandy, 7s 9d ; Patna rioeia firm at 28s. The Pine Plains station, lower Wimmera district, with 13,000 sheep, has been sold for £9200. Sydney, Aug. 27. Mi* Parkes, Colonial Secretary, asserts that the Government are iv possession of affidavits proving t'lat the assassination of the Duke of Edinburgh was preconcerted. One man who was in the secret was murdered to prevent discovery of the couspiracy. The cook of the Kaikoura has been frightened to death by a savage dog. The A.S.N. Company propose laying on a steamer between Sydney and Fiji. Archdeacon McEurde was buried on Tuesday. There was a large procession, and six bishops and forty-six priests were also present. XThere was a dinner last night to Mr Bnddington, who leaves shortly for Kaiapoi as manager of the Bank of New Zealand.
