To Colonial Secretary, applying for copies of Borough Act, - To Provincial Government, embodying a resolution pnaned respecting the swing bridge, ut a upcciai meeting held on Thursday last. , Tho /olio wing correspondence was also rend •,—> "From Mr John Rims, making application for kAtQ of the Ferry reserve. From several residents in Peraki street, drawing tho attention of tho Council to tho bad state of tho footpath in this street. Councillor Kcrr moved, that the application of Mr C. K. Dudley for a leaia of one of ilw river reserves for a term of 14 year* bo agreed to, which waa carried. In reforenco to Mr J. Sims' application. Mr Kcrr moved— <( That tho consideration of it ho deferred till next meeting." Mr Buddie seconded it mid it was carried, Thu Clerk's report was road. It drew at* tention to tho bad atate of the several roads nnd footpaths, Tho Council had in hand a balance of £25 Oi 3d. Councillor Newnham moved— " That tenders bo invited for repairing and metalling iho rondn und footpath* mentioned in the clerk's report.'' Councillor Buddie sccondod thin nnd it wan carried. Thu following motion, of which ('ouncillor Newnham had given notice, was then moved by tlmt gentleman, viz.— "That this Council is of opinion that the river reserves known as the market reaema, be thrown open to compete tion." lie <)id not think a market would bo wanted in tho town for the next 20 years, by which lima it would foil Again Into tho hands of the Council, Thu motion lapsed for want of ii ttecondcr. Tho Clerk drew the attention of the Council to thu neceiftity of appointing an official paper In the borough. - Councillor Ki-rr moved " That the lylUlten Timt* be appointed the official n*w*-pap«f for tho Borough of Kalapoi for advcrUiinp, and that the Press office do the job printing/ Carried. Tho Council then adjourned.
