ELECTRIC POWER FOR SHOWGROUNDS
APPLICATION FROM TE PUKE ASSOCIATION DECLINED
An application from the To Puke Agricultural and Pastoral’ Association for the construction of an electricity supply line to its showgrounds, was received at a meeting this week of' the iTiauranga Electric Power Board. In its application the association sought the board’s advice on whether the line should be a permanent or a temporary installation.
The board’s engineer (Mr J. R. Bongard) reported that 27 chains of extension line would be required to supply power to the grounds from the nearest point of supply. The cost of erecting the material would be about £IOO, he said. “There is no such thing as a- temporary installation,” Mr Bongard added. Power would be in use at a one-day show on February 26, after which the material would be idle until next year’s function. A motion was put to the meeting and carried, that the board advise the association that it declined the application this year.—B.P.T.
