Deputv-Supt. .R. Whittington, is at present attending the annual Conference of the United Firi> Brigades’ Association, at Hawera, as the Te Puke Fire Brigade’s representative.

After extending a warm welcome to members,: and before proceeding with the programme of the R.S.A. social function, held in the Citizens’ Club on Saturday night, the chairman of the Social Committee (Mr C. A. Muir) called upon all present to stand and observe a few moments silence as a mark of respect to the late Mr J. Jeffrey, who had been a prominent and highly esleemed member of the Social Committee since its inception.
