NO SUBSIDY GRANTED
FOR NO. 1 AND 2 ROAD WATER SCHEME 1 We arc in receipt of a copy of a letter received by Mr F. W. Doidge, M.F., from the Minister of Works (lion. It. Semple) which is published herewith : ‘.‘With reference to my letter of the 19th November last in connection with the improvement of an existing rural water supply serving settlers on No. 1 and 2 Hoads at Te Puke, I wish to advise that the question of a Government subsidy has been considered and that a decision has been reached that no subsidy will be granted. “The County Council has applied to ..the local Government Loans Board for sanction to raise a loan of £10,066 which is the estimated' cost of the scheme. This loan is repayable in 25 years and would represent an annua] cost of approximately £650. or an average over the 50 farmers in the area of £l3 pci- year. “Tt is expected that there will be an increase in gross income due to additional Imtterfat production as a direct result of the loan and the above annual charge should be no burden.”
