WEEK-END GAME TE PUKE WIN KNOCK-OUT By defeating Country by 72 runs :d the Domain on Saturday, Te Puke, last year's champion team, won the Taurnnga Cricket Sub-Association's knock-out Competition for tile 1940-47 season. Te Puke had first use of the batting crease -and when time was called had compiled 149 runs for the loss of nine wickets. E. Capon (27), J. Reid (22), and D. Searle (21) were the principal scorers. K. Sharplin was tlie most successful bowler for Country and off 18 overs he captured seven wickets for 48 runs. Country, when their turn came to bat, failed to get going and when the last wicket fell only 77 runs were on the board. A Vince (80) was the only batsman to feature in anything like a stand.
