Rugby Union Meeting Next Friday.
The closing meeting of the Te Puke Rugby Union is to he held on Friday evening of next week. March 31st. It is a clearing up meeting and will clarify a rule to read that duly appointed club delegates only will vote far members to be appointed to the Management Committee.
Mr. and Mrs. I). M. Steel Farewcllcd. A large gathering of friends and relatives of Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Steel gathered in the No. 2 Road Hall on Saturday evening where Mr. Bert Harding, as M.C., kept things happily moving with dancing and items. Mr. L. Cooper provided the music, items being given by Mr. F. Antram (songs) and Mary McFarlane ahd Val Barnett (highland fling). Mr. G. D. Vercoe made presentations to Mr. and Mrs. Steel on behalf of the large gathering and wished them well in their new home at the Mount. Mr. Steel suitably replied, saying that as they were not going far away they would be able to keep in touch with their friends. School^round Campaign. Marching Girls’ Fund.
A management committeemeeting (if the Te Cuke Marching Girls' was held on Wednesday when the. secret a rv. Mr K. 11. Raymond, presented the finances of the team to date. Tile major expenses had been costumes and travelling expenses, the.total outgoing being in the vicinity of £BO. With every account paid the team' was in credit to the extent of £B. This Was considered very gratifying and the team mas commended for the steady improvement being shown in their marching. Winners of a competition were found to be 2ilv Ross Tvydd first. Mr W. Cufhbert second and Mr J. MTLoug'jhiin third. It is probable That the team will compete at Rotorua very shortly with a new and different routine. A set or rules and conditions is to be placed before the members of the team and those not prepared to accept them will be excluded from the team. As they are eom'Tiiousensa proposals it is anticipated that the team mil] continue its very interesting work.
