St. John’s Harvest Festival. Sunday next, March 16th, is being observed as the Harvest Festival at the Parish elmreli of St. .John the Baptist (Te Puke). There will he an additional service at 2,30 p.m. for children, to which they are invited to bring ■in egg or eggs as their gift which later will be given to’the local Maternity Home. The other produce 1 given will be sent to . the Davidson Children’s Home at Waipawa.

Pick-up Amplifier. The secondary staff of the Te Puke 1). 11. X. suggested to the Committee that an electric amplifier would lie a great help with folk dancing and exercises. It appeared to the committee tlmt the primary playground was already involving them in a huge expenditure. There seemed to he varying opinions on the types of electrical apparatus that would lie of the; most use and it was decided that the committee meet the teachers of the whole school and discuss matters.. An expensive machine had been purchased which ■ now seemed to lie a white elephant and it was suggested that this might well lie sold.

A Scotchman was told that liis wife needed sail' air—so lie fanned her with a cod's head.
