BAY GRANTED PROVINCIAL status; The Dominion Council in Wellington last week fully considered the_result of the ballot held in t|ie Bay of Plenty, to determine the position of the Bay, and after a lengthy discussion, decided to uphold the ballot, and the Bay of Plenty was granted Provincial status, > which means it is now a Province of Federated Farmers, New Zealand, with headquarters in Wellington. Dunning, McCready, and the five Auckland members of the Council addressed the Council, and stated their reasons why the ballot should be declared invalid. Messrs. Friis of Tauranga and H. S. Holmes of Opotiki represented the Bay of Plenty. . •
