WOMEN’S INSTITUTES
PAENGAROA On Thursday, 20th July, the Paengaroa Women’s Institute’s monthly meeting was held, Mrs W. Riddell presiding over 24 members. The meeting opened with the reading of the aspirations. General business consisted of arrangements for the Institute birthday, to be held on the afternoon of the 17th August for which invitations' are to' be sent to the local Institutes and Divisions. . Miss Cruickshank gave a very interesting reading os Madame Vigee Le Bruh, a noted illustrations of her work being on show.: A Bring and Buy Stall, in aid of the local Boy Scouts was very successful. The Roll Call, “Household Economics’’ was well responded to. Congratulations were extended to the junior members for being so successful in the recent drama festival. The afternoon’s competitions resulted: Spelling—Mrs G. Spratt; Best Bloom —Miss S.' Spratt 1, Mrs G. Spratt 2; Knitted Cardigan or Pull-over—Miss 1. McDowell 1, Miss A. Snodgrass 2. The hostesses were' Mesdames J. Tanner, A. Snodgrass, and Miss I. McDowell. . ■ ■ "S' ■: ■■ ■
