CARTAGE RATES
FIXED BY AUTHORITY BAY OF PLENTY CHARGES Tariff schedules for cartage in the Opotiki, Rotorua, Taupo, Tauraiiga, and Whakatane counties have Deeu fixed by the No. 1 Licensing Authority. Mr E. H. Phelan. They take effect from July 17, 1939, and cover the cartage of fertilisers, and general merciunctTse, sheep, Rigs, wool, timber, furniture, sand and metal, small goods, and miscellaneous items. The general conditions provide that a discount of 5 per cent is to be allowed for payment on or before the 20th of the month of service. . A rebate of 25 per cent is to be allowed where the hirer also provides a back load. This rebate shall not apply to livestock cartage, or to cartage on any of the nine routes listed herein over distances exceeding 15 miles. This rebate shall not apply unless payment is made on or before the 20th of the following month of service. Where haulage of truck' by bullocks or horses is necessitated, an impost of 10s per haul is to be distributed over the charges for the whole load.. Contracts The right of contract is to Be preserved to Government departments, local .authorities and daily companies or dairy associations, subject onlv to the proviso that where the price is considered unsatisfactory by either party to the contract or by the local transport association, then it shall be option hi for any of these parties to request that the contract be reviewed by the licensing authority. ' Other parties having large quantities of goods to be carted, or regular deliveries to be made, may enter into contracts with individual carriers, the price to be approved by the local transport association, subject to the right of any of these parties to request that any such contract be reviewed by the licensing authority.. Contracts entered into prior to Ist. March, 1939, shall not be subject to review before Ist. April, 1940,
A copy of each contract must be held by the Carriers’ Association for the area in which the ’ goods are to be picked up. The price to be charged for the cartage of livestock shall be determined by the rates existing in the area to which the stock is carried. The price to be charged for the cartage of all other goods shall be determined by the rates existing in the area in which the goods are picked up. Mileages. Any part of a mile over three-tenths shall be charged as an extra mile. Unless otherwise specified, the mileage shall be calculated as from the point at which the goods are picked up, to the point at which they are delivered. Where pei vehicle mile” is' specified, e.g. as for furniture, the mileage is to be calculated from and back to the carrier’s depot. Time is to be calculated to the nearest half hour. Where a truck is kept waiting by the customer or his agent, any waiting time in excess of half an hour is to be chaiged at hourly rates. Holiday Work Work done on Sundays or Statutory holidays as set out in the Drivers’Award (Part'll) shall be charged at scheduled rates plus 33 1-3 per cent, This- shall not apply to cream or other contracts. A daily record of the operations of each of his trucks shall be kept by each licensee, and a waybill in accordance with the provisions of the Stock Amendment Act, 1938, shall be kept in respect of each trip on which livestock is carried.
