YOUNG FARMERS CLUB

Tour by Bay of Plenty Members What promises to be a most intesting tour is to be undertaken by a party of 50 young farmers from, the various Young Farmers’, Clubs of the Bay of Plenty. The will leave by motor bus and private cart on the Bth June, and, during the following eleven days, will visit the Waikato, Taranaki, Manawatu, Wellington, Wairarapa, Hawkes Bay, Taupo, and Rotorua districts. Numerous visits to leading farms and Agriculture Institutions have been planned while sightseeing will be provided by visits to such places as Waitomo Caves, New Plymouth, and Wellington.

Young Farmers’ Clubs are prov- ' ing to very popular in the Bay of ' Plenty, and the movement is undoubtedly assisting in the education and general cultural development of the young men of the districts A very healthy sign is that Clubs are steadily increasing their memberships and widening their scopes of activity. The above tour is the first of a series to be undertaken by these Clubs. Next winter it is proposed to tour Auckland and North Auckland, while, in the following year, there is a movement afoot to organise a tour of the South Island. Te Puke Club On Wednesday last, a most enjoyable and instructive afternoon i was experienced by several members of the Club, when Mr S. W, Mitchell opened his farm, wellknown as “Roseview,” for inspection, Mr Mitchell gave the boys the benefit of his experience when he addressed them on the latest method of ensilage making and the management and culling of Friesian cattle for which he used his own pedi* gi te herd for demonstratlclU The party was taken to the honidstead, where a delightful afternoon tea was Berved.
