Bible Glass Rallies
Presbyterians at Paengaroa
Some 250 enthusiastic Bible Class pupils gathered at Paengaroa on Tuesday last, for the annual Rally and Sports competition. The local classes had made complete arrangements for entertaining the visitors, but the programme was arranged by the Bay of Plenty District Committee, of which Mr G. Yeoman, of Taneatua, is President. After morning tea the Rev. J C. Young, of Rotorua, delivered a very searching and challenging address on Sincerity in religious prfe'ssiion. “Most of us” he said, “live under a. smoke-screen of insincerity. As 'individuals and nations we profess one thing and act another. In aDy form insincerity is abhorrent and dishonest. The challenge of Christianity and the challenge of the chaos in the world, is for a sincere consecration of all life to the Kingdom of God.” After lunch football and basketball seven-a-side competitions were held. Paengaroa A team won the basketball tournament after some keen and closely contested matches. In football the Paengaroa teams played well and deserved their victories. After all the points had been totalled for basketball, tunnel and overhead ball, football and the relay race of six runners, it was found that Paengaroa were in the lead by a very small margin, Awakeri and Opotiki (the past holders of the Cup) were second and third respectively. After tea the President congratulated Paengaroa on “wresting the Mead Cup from the Eastern end of the Bay and formally presented it to the winners. Methodists at Otamarakau
