Alleged Sheep Stealing

From Rotcehu Station

I About 150 Romr.ey wethers were apparently stolen from a Rotoiti sheep station near Rotorua owned by Messrs Lichenstein, Arnoldson and Co. Ltd., of Auckland. For some weeks past the I Rotorua police have been making I investigations regarding tbo disI appearance of the sheep but without result, aod now a reward of £25 has b=en ’offered for information concerning the loss. “There can be no doubt that it ■ is‘a case ot sheep stealing,” said Mr Lichenstein. "A thorough search has been mad - of the' property and it is prov-n quite definitely the sheep cannot become isolated in some remote portion of it, nor can there be any suggestion that they have strayed off the station as»the boundaries are all well held. About six or seven years ago we lost over 300 sheep in one season. IS is a serious matter as it is difficult to prevent suoh thefts from large properties.”
