Bituminous Sealing

Highway in SVlaketu Riding PROPOSED LOAN At the meeting of the Tauranga County Council on Thursday last the engineer (Mr A. H. Benham) presented a report dealing with the bituminous sealing of six and a-half miles of main highway between Te Puke and Maniatutu, and three and a-half miles of the Paengaroa-Te Ngae main highway, from the Paengaroa Junction to the foot of Matthews’Hill. The proposal was for a sealed surface 15ft wide and specially widened on the curves. . It was anticipated that the Main Highways Board’s subsidy would be available for the work.

Crs Mends and Blaymires spoke in favour of the proposed work, and the former moved : “That application be made to the Local Government Loans Board for its sanction to borrowing the sum of £4500 in the Maketu Riding for the carrying out of the work as reported upon by the county engineer,” The motion was seconded by Or Blaymires and carried.
