The Anniversary services held in the Methodist Church on Sunday last were well attended both in the morning and evening. The singing by the choir was much appreciated. A dance in aid r of the Paengaroa Hall funds will be held on Friday, June 23fd. The music will be supplied by Rhythm Vendors Orchestra, and a free bus will be available for visitors from Te Puke.

The Whakatane Press reports that there is a keen demand for farms in that district, particularly for areas of from 50 to 100 acres, Rangitaiki lands appeared to be favoured by Taranaki buyers.

Mr Muggeridge was able to place the order as a result of receiving £IQO from the Hawke's Bay district. The amount was subscribed in the district and donated to the Plant Research Station conditionally on the money belDg used to combat the white butterflies In the dietrbtß where the money was raised. We give a reminder of the School Concert and Dance to be held in the Paengaroa Hall on Friday evening next. A sale of shelter trees, fruit trees, and ornamental shrubs, on account of Mr T. Lock, Mangere. will be held by the N. Z, Loan & Mercantile Co. at their premises, Te Puke, on Tuesday, 20th June. The annual meeting of the Te Puke Bowling Club, called for Friday evening last was not very well attended, owing, no doubt, to the very cold weather, and it was decided therefore, after transacting a little routine business, to adjourn until October. The Rotorua and Bay of Plenty Hunt Club will hold a meet at Papamoa to-morrow, commencing at 12 noon. Afternoon tea will be provided by the ladies. It is expected that there will be a good muster of followers. On Friday there will be a meet at Gate Pa.
