TARANAKI FARMERS
VISIT TO BAY OF PLENTY
A meeting was held at Wbakatane last Tuesday evening to consider arrangements for the entertainment of the party of South Taranaki farmers who contemplate visiting that district in May next (says the Whakatano Press). The feeling of the meeting was that difficulty might be experienced in billeting 170 visitors for five days, and the suggestion was made that the Opotiki Chamber of Commerce be asked whether half the party could be accommodated at Opotiki It was pointed out that in such case those who remained inWhakatane for the first two and a-half days could then exchange places with the visitors at Opotiki for the remainder of the time at their disposal here, and all the visitors would be afforded equal opportunity of inspecting all places of interest in this part of the Bay. The secretary, Mr J. M. Hobin, undertook to oommunicate with t he Opotiki Chamber of Commerce in accordance with the suggestion and convene a meeting of delegates of Ipoal branches of the Farmers’ Union, the Taneatua Progress League and the com* m ttee of the Chamber of Com* raerue immediately on receipt of a reply from the Opotiki Cham* , bar.
