NEW ZEALAND V. M.C.

The third Test between New Zealand and the M.C.C. team, which was postponed last week on account £of the wet weather, was commenced on Monday, the actual playing time, however, being cut down to five hours. The Englishmen batted first, and at the afternoon tea adjournment had scored 330 for four wickets and declared, details being as follows: — M.C.C.-First Innings Bowley, st James, b Merritt 109 Dawson, b Merritt 23 Duleepsinhji, c and b Allcott 117 Woolley, run out 59 Legge, not ouv 19 Nichols, not out * 1

Total, 4 wickets (dec.) 330 New Zealand at close of play had lost 1 wicket for 96 runs.

A fourth Test match has been arranged, and will be commenced on Friday next, continuing on Saturday and Monday.
