A DISTRESSING FATALITY

A distressing accident, which resulted in the death of Mr David Thom, jnr., occurred at Opouriao on Monday last.

From information to hand it appears that Mr Thom had finished work on a haystack at his farrfi and was sliding down from the stack when his body struck the top of the handle of a hay fork, which was against the stack, with suoh force that he died as a result of his injuries. The deceased* who was 29 years of age, was the fourth son of Mr and Mrs D. Thom, of Opouriao, and was a brother of Mr Thom, of Te Puke. He was most highly respected, and was a prominent Mason, being Master of the Lodge at TaneatUa.
