BREAKING-UP.

TOWN BOARD MEMBERS SAYAU REVOIR. At the conclusion of the proceedings at the meeting of the Town Board last evening the Chairman (Mr A. Montgomery) thanked members for their cooperation during the past two a years. He referred to the work by the various Committees in connnection with the water supply, electric installation, road works, and building, and alluded with keen regret to the retirement of Mr Palmer, paying a tribute to that gentleman's long and ardu ous services on behalf of the ratepayers. He also thanked Mr Mandeno, electrical engineer, who had successfully installed the electric light, Mr Earp, the Town Clerk, and the Press. Mr Cooney, in response stated that he bad only been a member of the Board for two years, but during that time he had gained considerable knowledge from older and’more experienced mem* - beraTbey had been a very happy family. He thanked the Chairman for the manner in which he had presided over the Board, and stated that on every vital question Mr Montgomery had received the support of members. ffe expressed regret that three of the old members were not seeking reelection. They had done good work on the Board, whilst Mr Palmer's ripe experience had been of great value Mr Palmer thanked the Chairman and Mr Cooney for their kind remarks. He had thought it best to take a spell for a couple of years. He had been the first to call a meeting for the formation of a Town Board, and he had never regretted it. They had some results to show for it. The Chairman and himself, who had blazed the track, were now the sole remaining members of the original botjv. His heart and soul had been ip the work, and he had willingly given his services to help push the town ahead. He wished theold members who were contesting the election on Wednesday every success. He wanted the new Board to know that if he could assist them at any time to look on him as an eighth member and enlist his services, and he Would .do his best for the town. He trusted the Chairman would long be spared to carry out the good work he had put his hand to. (Applause), x - - Tht other members of the Board who were present, and Messrs Mandeno, Earp, and Wilsone also responded.
