The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co. report At Hamilton on Tuesday there was a better entry of sheep, but excepting dairy cattle, which were in strong supply, fjwer cattle were yarded. There was again a full yarding of pigs. Good competition followed the sheep throughout, fats especially realising good value. Best wethers made to 33s 6d : best ewes, 25s 6d ; forward wethers, 24s 6d to 25s 6d ; forward ewes, 15s to 18s 4d ; forward hoggets, 19s Bd. No fat steers were penned, but fat cows were in stong demand, making from £6 11s to £8 5s for heavy weights, the latter figure being obtained for a pen'of southern bred P. A. cows in very prime condition. A line of forward steers off turnips not quitted at auction was afterwards disposed of at £4 15s. Empty cows were in fair demand, realising from 35s to 465; store cows, 25s to 32s 6d ; yearling and 18-mouths empty heifers were a little easier, making from £8 to £3 18s ; other classes of store cattle were only in small lots and sold at ruling rates. Good young dairy cows (Jersey) close to profit made up to £l6; others, £6 to £8; culls, £2 to £4 ; good 3-year Shorthorn heifers, well forward, £9 to £10; medium quality, £6 to £7 10s ; small and backward, £3 to £5. A good number of pigs again came forward and a further decline in the price of heavy pigs was noticeable, but porkers maintained the values of those reported last week. A slight improvement was shown in the stores, especially with the slips and porkers. Medium to heavy baconers, £2103 to £2 145.; good porkers to light baconers, £2 Is to £2 8s; small unfinished to medium porkers, 24s to 375; good slips to store porkers, 21s 6d to 30s ; slips, 12s 6d to 19s 6d ; weahers 9s 6d to 10s 6d.
