APPEAL FOR CLEMENCY TO MURDERER
London, June 21.
The father, mother and brothers'of the recently murdered Inspector McGrath have appealed to Lord Fitzolan, the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, and General Sir Nevil' Macready, commander of forces, to exercise clemency toward McKeon, the Sinn Fein member of the House of Commons, who was convicted of the murder. The appeal urges a; desire that mercy may be shown instead of vengeance, and states that the sacrifice of a second life would not |aid 6 the bereaved in finding consolation. W.
UNARMED OFFICERS MURDERED j London, June 21. Three military officers belonging to the Feltard garrison were kidnapped while walking in plain clothes towards the tennis courts. Their bodies were afterwards found at Woodroffe, near Clonnel. The officers had been blindfolded and shot. .REMARKABLE REPORT London, June 21. A remarkable report, said to be on good authority, according' to the Central News Agency, was circulating in the lobby to-night, that the Sinn Fein intends to Bignalise the King’s visit to Belfast by offering peace to His Majesty.'
