TREE-PLANTING.
GOVERNMENT TREES AND U SEEDS. A pamphlet has just been issued by the officer in charge of the : ';fi Forestry Department, Whakarewa; which gives a great deal of information that should prove very useful to farmers and others who contemplate planting for shelter or for the purpose of keeping themselves supplied in years to come with timber for fencing purposes and fuel. 1 . . In the pamphlet will be a list of trees available for sale together with prices for same. These trees are being sold at very reasonable prices, eucalyptus plants, for instance, being offered at 108 per 100, or 80s per 1000, and rooted poplars at 6d per 100. The Department is making a specialty of tree seeds, and has a very wide variety of these, includ- ; ing eucalyptus, pines of all sorts, and other valuable sorts, which are offered at from 6d to Is per i packet, or from 20s to 30s per pound. As one pound of seed will germinate from 20,000' to 30,000 seedlings, it will be realised that the prices charged are j most reasonable. : > The pamphlet also gives a mass of useful information relating to packing, planting etc. A copy can be obtained from the Forestry Department by anyone interested/
