SALE OF WORK.
A very large number of ladies attended a meeting called for the purpose of making detailed arrangements in connection with the Sale of Work, to be held on Thursday, the 27th inst., in aid of the funds of St. John's Church. The stalls were allocated to different parties : Mesdames Fox, Montgomery, and Young take charge of the plain and fancy work ; Mesdames Bostock, Kelly, and Bryan, with Miss Christophers, undertake the Children's department: Mesdames Brown, Hoyte, and Oxley will sell sweetmeats ; Mesdames Godwin and Houston, and Miss Langdon will dispose of produce at current figures; while Mesdames Dowell and Tod, with Miss Brown, will have in stock a supply of all sorts of things useful to men. Mesdames Bishoprick and Wrigley, with the Misses Palmer and Webber, and a host of amateur waitresses, will be in charge of the refreshments; Mr Wrigley with his gramaphone will supply music, the members of the vestry whatever help is required of them, and other members of the congregation and from the country will be kept busy. Sideshows will be in abundance, with ample opportunity for the disposal of spare cash left after the high prices and various calls. We believe that the Church will profit financially, and everyone' else in the possession of the pious reflection of having had a little money well spent. It is just possible that a " Punch and Judy man " will visit the Show.
