YACHTING.
The general handicap arranged by the North. Shore Yacht Club on Saturday brought out eleven competitors. The weather waa excellent for racing, a good southerly breeze blowing throughout the afternoon. The Ngaru, with 23min. etart, secured first place, with the Marie (19min.) second, and the Venue (26 mm.) third, and the Celox (Hmin.) fourth. A good race resulted in the 16----footere between Mistral and Atangaiti, the latter beating the scratch boat by seven seconds. The result was :— Atangaiti, 1. Mistral x (scr.), 2-. Mascotte, 3. In the race for the 14-footers, for a Silver Cup £10 10b., presented by Mr. H. S. Harrison, this event brought out a field of 11 starters. The Ola IL vron> with Whizz Bang second. The Banjo and Be* Sprite tied for third plac*. < * * Manukau Harbour. A motor launch and yacht race took place on the Manukau Harbour on Saturday afternoon last. There was an ebb tide and a good breeze blowing. An excellent day'e sport resulted. Ih the yacht race W. Catley's Digger wae first, with the Ruby and Alene second and third respectively.
