ri HE croquet tournament held last 1/ week on the Hamilton croquet lawns was a great success. The lawns were in splendid order, and some very close games were played. Play was started on Tuesday morning, and continued till Friday. The visitors all enjoyed their time spent in Hamilton. Morning and afternoon tea and light lunch were served each day. Some who were present during the week: Mesdames T. F. Jolly, Newman, G. Hyde, Platt, Furze, Parker Prenton, Phillpot, Fergusson, McGregor, Dey, Belgrave, Higgins, Finnic, Billing, Watty Armstrong Turbott, McArthur, T. J3. Dillicar, Ashby, Burn, Walton, Vautier Bayly, Insoll, A. Day, Wilson, Adamson, Faulkner, Porter, Bennett Hodgkinson, Osborne, Greenslade, Lloyd, Black, McDermott, Hopkirk, Forbes, Watts, Prentis, Caisley, Misses Wallnutt, Furze > Jolly/Watty, Higgins, Proyis, Mathieson, Combes, Bull, F. B. Jolly, W. Dillicar.
At the conclusion of the teachers' farm school classes, held at Ruakura, a pleasing little ceremony took place. Mr. W. J. Ellis, on behalf of the teachers, asked Mrs. Green to accept a set of fern bowls and vases made from shells used during the war, as a mark of appreciation of the kindness shown to the teachers by Mr. and Mrs. Green. Mr. Green suitably replied, and hearty cheers were given, and the gathering dispersed. * * * A jolly little dance was held in the large class-room at "Sonmng on Friday evening last. The floor was in good order, and the ™wal good music was vsupplied by Miss Hawkins. During the evening several solos were sung by Mr. Carter and Mr. &■ Cussen. Mrs. Brewis was the chaperon. Others present were: Misses McCaw, L. Cussen, D. Brewis V. Brewis, B. Way, M. Carr, I. Ranstead, E Cussen, Ring, M. Thompkms B. Hunter, M. Manning, C. . Hunter, Coventry, G. Cussen, Provis (2), H. Chitty. Mrs F. B. Jolly (Napier) was in Hamilton for the croquet tournament. Miss Dames (Tauranga) is the guest of Mrs. Barton, Hamilton West. Mrs. Noonan has returned from a holiday at Milford Beach. Mrs Pay is back in Hamilton after spending some weeks up JNortli. Mrs. A. H. Hyde went to Wellington last week to meet her son, who returned by the Bremen. Mrs. Fabling is staying with her mother, Mrs. Burd, in Tauranga. Mrs. Ellicott and family have returned from Raglan. Mrs. W. Whyte went to Hawera last week for an extended holiday. Mrs. Rogers has been in Auckland for some weeks. Mrs. Rawson has returned to Hamilton after being away at Milford for some weeks. Mrs. J. Gray (Onehunga) is on a visit to Hamilton. Mrs. A. E. Manning is staying at Kawau for some weeks. Mrs. H. Garland has returned to Auckland. Mrs. H. J. Greenslade is in Hamilton after being some weeks at her beach cottage at Raglan. Mrs. Black is on a visit to Hamilton, and took part in the croquet tournament.. Mrs. T.
