THE Takapuna Jockey Club opened their Spring Meeting on Saturday last under ideal weather conditions, consequently a large number was attracted to make the trip. Indeed, it was considered a record attendance, and no doubt the powers that be will soon have to sice that the grandstand accommodation is enlarged, as the increased attendance each meeting testifies to the growing popularity of the Marine Suburb fixtures. * * * The racing was interesting, the course being in splendid order, and a most enjoyable day was spent. The excellent music discoursed by a band on the lawn enlivened the proceedings. * * , * Amongst the ladies present were: Mrs Alison,* in a smart costume of navy cloth and charmeuse, small brown hat.
