MRS, PROVIS gave a jolly her friends last Friday, dance to a number of The large drawing room and hall were both used for dancing. The supper was laid in the dining room downstairs, the table being decorated with violets and maiden-hair fern. Some of those present were, Mrs. Provis, Misses E. Provis, Zoe Provis, who saw that their guests all had an enjoyable time. Amongst the guests were Mesdames Cubitt, Gillies, Pountney, Maclean, Bennett, Misses Cork, Empson, Edmonds, Chitty, Furze, Coventry, Hey wood, Jackson, Lawson, McNicoC Ring, B. Hunter, C. Hunter, McCaw, D. Manning.

Mrs. Going was tk« guest of honour at a farewell "At Home" given bj' Mrs. Greenslade to the members of the National Reserve. A large number of members attended, and were soon puzzling over the magazine competition, which was won by Miss Stevens. After a delicious afternoon tea had been served in the lounge Mrs Greenslade, president of the National Reserve, presented a gold expansion wristlet watch to Mrs. Going as a parting gift from the members of the National Reserve. Mrs. Going responded in a happy little speech, and expressed the wish that she would have the pleasure of seeing some _of her friends in England. The following were present: Mesdames Greenslade, Going, Recce, L. R. Greenslade, P. Going, Graham, Atkin, English, O'Meara, Noonan, Peaeocke, Mears, Tristram, Jordan, Cowles, A. Hyde, Varney, Pillar, Ellicott, Herbert, Bennett, Douglas, Manning, Jolly, Luxford, Grocott, Mitchell, McWilliam, Beeston, Wilson, Stevens, Millard, West, Misses Atkin, Stevens, and Whitton.

Mrs. P. E. Stevens entertained a few of her friends at afternoon tea at her home last Friday. Some of the guests were Mesdames Brodie, Hay, Recce, J. H. Hume, Carter, Fergusson, Tudhope, Douglas, and Misses Cameron and E. Cussen-

The Matrons' Ball eventuated on Wednesday last in the Frankton Hall. The floor was in first-class order, and the music supplied by Miss Hawkins' Orchestra, was excellent. The supper was very dainty, and reflected the greatest credit on the committee. Mrs. T. F. Mrs. R. F. Bollard and her daughters entertained some of their friends at an afternoon tea on Friday week. Some of those who motored from Hamilton were Mesdames Maclean, Atkin, Misses Tompkins (2), Hall, Penniket, Jackson, McNicol, Harrison, Whewell, Rendell, Pickering, Cussen. B. Hunter, B. Way, Atkin, and Thompson.

Mrs. T. F. Jolly had an enjoyable " 500 " evening at her home on Tuesday. The tables were arranged in the billiard room, which was bright with spring flowers. Mrs. Bayly had t*p score for the ladies and Mr. Pillar was first for the men. Others present were Mesdames Beeston, Pillar,, Cowles, Bull, Watty, O'Meara,. Misses Jolly (3) Watty, and Wallnut, Messrs. Pillar, Jolly, Beeston r Bull, Cowles, O'Meara.

A small committee dance was held in the Class-room at Sonning School last week- The music was supplied by Miss Hawkins. Mesdames Coventry, English, Maclean, and O'Meara were the chaperons. Others who attended were Misses Cork, Furze, 0. Jolly, Ring (2), McCaw, Edmonds, Tompkins (2), Ranstead, Heywood, White, Provis, Coventry, Gruar,. Chitty, Beale, McNicol, Jackson, B. Hunter, C. Hunter, Corbett, and L. White.

Mr. and Mrs. A. W- Green gave a danoe at Ruakura Farm for themembers of St. Andrew's Tennis Club. The large social hall was arranged for dancing, and the music was provided by Miss Hawkins. Mr. and Mrs. Green, saw that their guestshad a jolly time. Those present were Mesdames Donny, Ross, Williams, Misses Davis, Mackay, McConnell, Knight, Fagan, Burrows, Wyatt, Watkins, Thomas, Whittaker, Hodgson, Coombes, Harrison, and Higgison. "$? & <$?
