FOR FOOTBALLERS.

THE REALM OF RUGBY. GRAMMAR DISHES 'VARSITY. A Magnificent GameI think the Grammar Old Boys'- ' Varsity game on Monday was the finest exposition of Rugby given in Auckland for very many years. There was a big crowd there to root and barrack, and I saw Sammie and his brothers there, backing up Leo, who played the game of his young life. The game was a dazzling exhibition of Rugby. Fast and open. Two excellently trained teams, the forwards of which excelled in open play, and at. times roused great enthusiasm of the great crowd to concert pitch. Conaghan and McCullough played Herculean games for Old Boys. Woolley —a champion—his openings reminding us of Mynott in his prime. Kronfeld is a tiger in the loose— saved Old Boys' time and again— opening he made for Conyngham was a "corker." McCullough's kicking at goal, "great." Souter's try was the result of fine hand play—He is a dangerous man near the line. Taylor-McCullough can hook some. The champions at Westfield and Southdown are not in it with this pair. Wells a great forward, and a grafter. Millikens try under the posts a "bobydazzler."—Swerve hard to stop. Ross should give up trying to dive through scrums, under the new rules ho will bring disaster to his side every time he attempts it. Birnie, safe as one of "clvubbs" Best. Thomas, a hustler—but inclined to get off side too much.
