S'aint-Saens has written a national hymni for France, called "La Framcaise," that is said to have taken Paris by storm, and threatens to displace the "Marseillaise" as the national air. .Saint-Saens knows something of the spirit of war. He made his first public appearance as a pianist in Paris two years before the French revolution of '48.
