RICKARDS' TIVOLI "FOLLIES."

After a highly successful season in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Brislbane, Rickards' Tivoli "Follies" will open at H.M. Theatre on Monday next. The "Follies" is the title of a pocket revue. The idea is the latest in America and England, and everywhere it has been tried it has proved a success. Mr Mcintosh, the governing director of the Tivoli circuit, who accompanies the organisation to Auckland, seized the idea when he was Home at the end of last year, and devotedi himself to engaging artists suitable for the production. He secured the services of several performers who were up in that kind of work, and to these he added several specialties, such as dancers and acrobatic acts. Those who will appear at the opening are: Miss Isabel!© d'Armond, Miss Vera Pearce, Miss Eileen Watson, Jack Cannot, Alfredo, Madame Clerc, Alvaretto Rego and Stop pit, and Alexander Yakovlenko. In addition there is a trained chorus and ballet, while the orchestra will be augmented for the present tour of the Dominion. * * *

Robert Parker, already widely known throughout Australia and the Dominion as the superb baritone singer of the Quinlan Opera Company, will make his debut in Auckland' on Monday next with the above organisation. The important engagement of the grand opera artist marks a new advance on the variety stage, which in this way has fallen into line with the leading vaudeville houses in America. There the musical invasion by operatic and concert stars has grown immensely during the last two years. Even Calve, the greatest of Carmens, has now capitulated to the lure of a temporary harvest in vaudeville. If she enters the "two-a-day" with serious intent, its stage will be enriched as never before. Such a fortunate chance has come mi the engagement of Robert Parker, and, judging by the American artist's warm reception in grand opera he should be firmly entrenched' in his new environment. The fine resonance of his voice, his decisive diction and splendid singing are an object lesson to students. Box plans at Wildman and Arey's.
