Frank Ross is going to attend the Marton J.C. Spring Meeting with his pair of chestnuts, Bonny Jean and Hey Boy. They are both pretty forward. The Waikato Hunt Club's nominations are to hand and exceeded the most sanguine expectations. There are altogether 97 in the six events. Ihe meeting takes place on the 7th September at Cambridge. R. Lambess has come under the ban of the stewards of the Gisborne Hunt Club for alleged snatching at the bridle of the winner, Rising Sun, in the Open Flat Handicap. Lambess was riding Sylverlyte, who ran second. The C.J.C. National finished up the big cross country events in the Dominion, and without doubt Captain Jingle came "out at the head of the poll as the most * successful chaser, winning all his races like a thorough tradesman. Quite a number of " well-seasoned punters " have a strong fancy for Our King in the N.Z. Cup. The son of Multifid-Indian Queen put up a taking performance when he won the A.R.C. Great Northern Champagne Stakes. The Waipu Racing Club's meeting took place last week minus the ''tote and the tommies," and Teddy McKmney and Toreador caught two races each, the Maiden and Handicap Trots and Maiden Hack and Hunters Flat respectively. Arty won the Hunters Hurdles, Isabel the Polo race, and Romantic the Te Awamutu Cup.
