Ethel Irving figured in an exciting scene on Sydney Harbour on Sunday afternoon. A yacht containing twenty-six people capsized, and Miss Ethel Irving and a party of theatricals in a motor launch helped in the work of rescue. The women and children were picked up, and it looked as if some of the men, who were in difficulties, would be lost. However, ultimately the whole party was got on This is the third time Miss Irving has taken part in a rescue under sensational circumstances on Sydney Harbour. •0 m m The death of Miss Edith Crane in America removes a plump and happy lady, who was well known in England, America and Australia. She is best remembered in this country as an effective Trilby of the rococo school, her husband, Tyrone Power, doing some excellent work in the silken whiskerings of Svengali. Like most Trilbies, Miss Crane made a big reputation on the beauty of her feet, her pedal extremities being perectly fitted for public display on a well-lit stage. Miss Dorothea Baird, the original Trilby, by the way, was another who travelled on the fame create}!' by her feet.
