On Tuesday, most of the trainers bad their horses going ot top. All the tracks—sand, tan, grass, and inner grass—were in good order.

Goldsize had Ashby beaten in any part of 5 fur. on the grass, in 51 3-5 seconds.

Soulfcoria and Wee Olga galloped 6fur., in 1.18 3-ssec, the former finishing in front on the sand.

Sir Walter spurted half-a-mile in 51 3 ssec, with Ryan in the saddle.

Sea Elf and Maheno seemed to be going at top at the end of 6fur. on the sand.

Peggy Pride and Rutter sprinted sfur. in this order, in 1.5 4-ssec.

MacManemin did ]not accept with Mabeno in the Takapnna Cap. The stable is represented by Soultoria' and Sea Elf. Both the mares have won on the course. The old saying may come true : " horses for courses."

Mahinga, Eark Rose, and a bay mare made every post a winning post to leave halfa-mile behind in 50 sacs, and came in as above.

The old hardier Wellcast, who hails from the Southern Wairoa, in company with Bright Star, negotiated five hurdles in good style on Tuesday. Wellcast must be one of the oldest horses in training in New Zealand. The good ones do not as a rule last long as they are worked too frequently, and too hard.
