WINES. ALES AND SPIRITS OF THE BEST BRANDS ONLY. "M 0N T) ES ' IR,, TT OTEL rpAKAPUNA. THE situation of "MON DKSIR" may aptly be described as enchanting. It ia the most sumptuously appointed establishment of the kind in New Zealand, and it is the recognised rendezvous for English touriots, professional and business men, to whom hours of careless relaxation are so essential. A more delightful spot than "MON DKSIR" could scarcely be imagined. With the new ferry and tramcar facilities, Takapuna may be said to hold in her hands the REINS of pleasure. So speedy is the communication with the City of Auckland, that one hour our merchant may be seen in their counting-houses, the next watching the white foam-waves beating upon the fine sandy beach, over a mile in length, immediately in front of " MON DESIR " At high tide this beach forms a most delightful promenade. The tide sweeps in over the smooth, bright sand to the musical sound of its bursting foam bells, and at holiday times the whole length of the beach is alive with many groups of people, watching; the waves curl in, and laughing and running as the water overtakes them. The facilities for sea-bathing at Takapuna are second to none in New Zealand, and visitor* can walk from the " MON DESIB" grounds into the bathing sheds. There is a pier here to which pleasure boats are attached, and a sail in the Channel or around excinct Mount Rangitoto is a favourite excursion of all visitors. A few chains from the shore, fish of various kinds may Cβ caught in abundance, at any state of the tide, while inland, and within three hundred yards of the spacious, and well laid-out grounds of " Mon Desir " visitors can reach the banks of Lake Takapuna, a picturesque expanse of fresh water, where good trout fishing is obtainable. Around the Lake, tram-cars ran at frequent intervais. The beneficial climatic influences on the physical, mental, and moral well-being of visitors to Takapuna is a question worthy of the attention of all who would enjoy a healthy, happy and comfoi table holiday. " Mon Desir " is fitted with modern hot and cold water baths, and every home comfort may be obtained at a:very moderate tariff. Post Office and Telephone Bureau.on the Premises, pRESSWELL TM EREDITH.
