MAMAKU.

A successful and enjoyable leap year ball took place on 29th February in the Mamaku Hall— the first, by the way, ever held in the township. The. hall was beautifully decorated with ferns and Chinese lanterns, and the music, supplied by Messrs Bates, Robinson and Patterson, was excellent. About thirty couples were present. Mrs Neil acted as M.C., and the supper was first-class. A number of pretty dresses were worn. Amongst these were :— Mrs Flynn in black and pink ; Mrs Fleming, lovely black spangled net, red trimmings ; Miss Fleming, dainty dress of white spangled net, chiffon and white roses ; Mrs Larkins, black skirt, pink blouse : Mrs Coulston, .white and pink ; Mrs Patterson, pretty oreme ; Miss L. Patterson, charming pale green and white drees ; Misses M, and A. Patterson,, dainty white muslin ; Mrs Wood, becoming maize and black, velvet trimming : Mrs Robinson, green skirt, white silk blouse : Mrs Mould, electric blue, and oreme applique ; Miss Bates, white and blue : Mrs -Hennin£, dainty white : Mrs Horton, black, pink roses ; Mrs Donelly, black satin skirt, lace bodice : Mrs Neil, black : Mrs Carl, navy and white ; Mrs Brown, black ; Mrs Mansfield, - pretty -blue and white ; Miss Harper, floral muslin ; Miss N. Sims, blue ; Mrs Tyson, black skirt, white blouse ; Miss Skellan. dainty white ; Miss A. Woods, white and blue : Miss Bates, pink.
