hibiting the use of meat by all and sundry, because a number of persons have been afflicted with cancer and other fearful diseases through an over-indulgence in the use of meat, and for which the butchers would be held responsible. We must always be within the " golden medium " in the use of any of Nature's gifts. By carrying this specious argument of Mr Spragg's to its furthest conclusion, the Almighty Himself must be held responsible for having placed things on this earth within the reach of mankind the abuse of which carries evil in its train, quite regardless of the fact that the moderate use of these articles is very advantageous to humanity. It is beyond our poor capacity to attempt to convince Mr Spragg that the Almighty, in including alcohol in his scheme of creation, did not err, which action Mr Spragg and his fellow Prohibitionists criticise with so much freedom.— Yours, etc., ARTHUR M.
