COROMANDEL.
On Thursday evening, 12th July, one of the best dances held in Ooromandel took place at the reaidenoe of Mr Fremlin, Wangapona Road, to celebrate the birthday of Mrs G. W Rhodes and Master Fremlin. Dancing paaaed the hoars all too quickly till midnight, when sapper was announced. The sapper-room was from every point of view simply lovely, the table being decorated with white camellias and lilies, and gleaming among these was every delicacy— jelließ, blanc manges, fruit, wine, etc.— reflecting great credit on the hostess and Mrs Rhodes. The toasts of the evening were 'The Hostess,' by Mr McEenzie, who, in a very happy speech, thanked Mrs Fremlin on behalf of the visitors; 'The Ladies,' by Mr Daly, was one of the beßt toasts of the evening, the proposer bringing down the house with his pathetio recitation, ' The Children.' The party — aboat twenty couples — broke ap at 4 a m , after singing ' Anld Lang Syne.'
